Spartans entered the new season of Tipsport Extraliga with victory over Olomouc. Slovenian forward Robert Sabolič opened the score in the first period, captain Jaroslav Hlinka added second goal in the power play. In the second period Sparta increased the lead thanks to Tomáš Netík. Jan Eberle scored for Olomouc in the third period but Sparta edited the score one more time with the goal to 4:1 by Lukáš Cingel.
