Sparta had decided to void Alexander Salák´s contract, effective today. The 35-year-old netminder himself told the management that he does not wish to continue on the team. Therefore, the club has decided to fulfil his request.
"No player is bigger than the club. We counted on Alexander Salák for the playoffs, but in recent days, we decided it would be better if he did not continue playing for our club," said sports manager Petr Ton.
The leadership is actively trying to find a replacement to create a goalie duo with Matěj Machovský. "We´re looking around abroad; the negotiations are looking good. We should have some clarity by the end of the week at the latest," Petr Ton commented, while not excluding the possibility of fresh faces joining Sparta at other positions as well.
