Sparta looked to be in good shape after one period, leading 4-1, but a disastrous start to the second ultimately cost them this wild game in which both starting goalies were replaced. Zlín scored four times in the first six minutes of the middle frame to re-energise their home crowd re-take the lead. Lukáš Pech got Sparta back on even terms late in the period, but Petr Zamorský´s laser into the top corner with just 1:45 left in regulation time pushed the outcome in Zlín´s favour. Petr Leška´s assist on the winning goal was his third point of the game, while Karel Pilař, Petr Ton, Jaroslav Hlinka and Lukáš Krejčík all had 2 points for Sparta.
