Sparta went into the match with their temporary coaches Jaroslav Hlinka and Petr Ton, who had to accept a 1:5 loss in their debut. Powerplays were clearly the deciding factor in the game, Třinec scored in all three, Sparta came out empty handed from all of their seven powerplays, including a 5 on 3.
