Sparta wins the regular season!

For the first time in seven years, Sparta has managed to beat out all competition and finish the season on top of the Extraliga standings. The race for first place concluded on Friday, as Prague defeated Kometa 5-0 and Třinec, its only real competition, suffered a narrow 3-4 loss in Mladá Boleslav. The results created a five-point gap between the two teams, which the Steelers can not close with just one game left in the regular season. With the title secured, Sparta can now set its sights on one more accomplishment – beating or at least tying the team point record, which is within reach. The squad has amassed 108 so far, with the record, set in 2014 and then first tied two years later, being 110.

Tipsport Extraliga standings prior to the final round. The first four teams directly advance to the quarterfinals, while teams placed fifth through twelfth compete for the other four spots in play-off qualification.
