Sparta fire coach Kalous, hire Frantisek Vyborny

Sparta changes the head coach. Jiri Kalous ends his work with the current 10th team in Czech extraliga and Frantisek Vyborny comes to his place. Vyborny led Sparta to three extraliga titles in the past and last time he worked in Mlada Boleslav. „I didn´t expect to train again. But I want to help Sparta as much as possible,“ says a 64-year-old coach.

„I would like to thank Jiri Kalous for his year and half work for Sparta. The regular part of the last season – especially the Champions League where we got to the final – were successful stages of last season,“ says Petr Briza, owner and chairman of HC Sparta Praha. Instead of Kalous, legendary coach Frantisek Vyborny will train famous Prague club.

Three times during his coaching career Frantisek Vyborny won the title with Sparta. It was in 2000, 2006 and 2007.

„Due to the current bad situation we have decided to make this change. I know Frantisek Vyborny very well from the time of my active player career and I´m convinced that this is the best solution for Sparta at this time. That´s why I decided to ask Frantisek, and now I can thank him for accepting this challenge,“ adds Petr Briza. Coach Frantisek Vyborny has signed the contract until the end of the current extraliga season.

„We have to rise. It will not be easy, the Tipsport extraliga is strong balanced and every game is quite difficult. Players must accept this fact and do more than they did before,“ says Frantisek Vyborny.
