Sparta has a new owner

The hockey club Sparta Prague is changing its owner. The former goaltender and present directorship chairman Petr Bříza bought it from Sports Holding which owned the club since 2012.

Sparta Prague is one of the most famous Czech hockey clubs and it’s honoured and respected in the Czech Republic and abroad overall. This traditional brand has been stabilized when the Sports Holding owned it. The club ensured another development of its brand because of last year’s successful moving into the O2 Arena.

“About one year ago I get information from previous owners. They told me that they would like to pull out away from public life and shareholder’s ownership in Sparta Prague company. From a position of the directorship chairman I intensely solved this situation in recent months. I decided to undertake Sparta as its new owner. Of course after when I found all details about operation and financing of whole company. Sparta is leaving the structure of Sports Holding with this move,” said Petr Bříza.

“Dealings about selling the club were long time naturally. I provided private financing to realize this transaction. I was very pleased that I could count on help and very positive reactions of crucial partners. What is more, we closed in this season new strategic partnerships to ensure another strong growth of financial stability after last year’s moving into the O2 Arena. We are going to inform the public about these steps in terms of pre-seasonal press conference which will take place on September 1,” he continues.

“My owner’s vision isn’t different from that one which I espoused as a general manager and as a directorship chairman. Our goal will be sports and social development. There is one conspicuous difference and that’s the fact Sparta has no commercial company behind back. Sparta is a unique and traditional representative of Prague and the Czech Republic overall. The club deserves an appropriate support which will be even more necessary for filling on the budget. The economic and sports power of Sparta will be dependent on partners and fans support. I don’t resist possible prospective dealings about joining a new buying cooperative partner into the club,” Petr Bříza commented the change in owners structure.
