Sparta has been successful in preseason so far

The preseason games started in the end of July. Sparta Prague has already played six games until today. During this time Prague team beat the second best club in extraliga last year and participated in two prestigious tournaments. From Mountfield Cup and Red Bulls Salute Sparta won the silver medals.

The first preseason game Sparta played in Liberec unusually from 11 o’clock in the morning. Team from Prague entered without first two lines, Bílí Tygři almost in full lineup. Home team dominated in the first period and went into the lead 2:0. Sparta with very young team matched the score and finally won in the overtime. Robert Říčka scored first goal in his first game in Spartan jersey.

Second place on Mountfield Cup

Sparta played three games on the tournament. The first against South Korea. Spartans got to the quick lead after Petr Kumstát goal in the third minute. Fighting team from East Asia matched the score and Ki Sung Kim scored the winning goal in the overtime. South Korea’s goalkeeper Mike Dalton was great. Sparta got one point.

Second game was against the home team Mountfield Hradec Králové. Home team scored first but Vinny Saponari and Jan Švrček turned the score. In the second half of the game Petr Koukal matched the score to 2:2 and the same result was also after 60 minutes. In the penalty shots was the only succcessful Jaroslav Bednář from Hradec Králové. Sparta again acquired one point.

The last match on Mountfield Cup was with Dynamo Pardubice. Dynamo scored a quick goal in the first period but in the next part was the main star on the ice Tomáš Pavelka. Spartan defender scored two goals in the second period and decided the game for Prague club.

Silver medal on the prestigious Red Bulls Salute

Sparta Prague also took part the Red Bulls Salute in Garmisch-Partenkirchen where Sparta played only two games. The first against Red Bull Salzburg was very dramatic and exciting. Salzburg went into the lead in fifth minute but Sparta turned the score and led 3:1 early in the second period. Austrian team was able to scored two goal and the score was even afted 60 minutes. Then Alexander Reichenberger scored the winning goal in the first minute in the overtime. Sparta moved directly to the final.

The final game was in Ga-Pa against EHC Red Bull München. Sparta entered the game horribly. Three München goals meant safe lead already in the fifth minute. Spartans Petr Kumstát and Dominik Uher scored the only Spartans goals and the German team won conclusive 5:2. Sparta finished second on the tournament and again acquired the silver medals.
