Petr Bříza: I am very proud of our team and fans as well

The third season of the Champions Hockey League is now history and Sparta reached one of the biggest accomplishments in the modern era of the club. The Prague club advanced to the finals after successful confrontations with elite teams from Sweden, Finland and Switzerland. In the end, Spartans took the silver medal after a defeat in overtime of the final game against Sweden´s Frölunda.

„The entire team deserves big thanks for the great representation of Sparta and also Czech ice hockey in general on the international field. We were the best Czech team in all three Champions Hockey League seasons. We have proven the quality of theTipsport extraliga with gaining silver after a very even battle against one of the best teams in Europe. Sparta left a very strong impression with its game and gained respect with its performance.

Our progam was very hard, we played thirteen CHL games against foreign clubs in addiction to our games in the domestic league. The team showed astonishing internal power and morality even under the difficult conditions. The symbolic peak was the third period of the final game. The players left everything on the ice and showed a heroic and admirable performance.

I also want to thank the fans. You supported our team during the whole CHL season, at the home games and also many of you at the away games. Approximately 400 fans travelled to Gothenburg. Your dedication is now valued and praised all over European ice hockey. You were fantastic and the applause of Frölunda fans after the game was also for you and the great ice hockey experience.

We can proudly say after the final CHL game that we were witnesses of one of the highest quality games in european club history. You did a fantastic job for Sparta, thank you all."
